Share Your Style Party #11

Hello everyone!

Welcome to Share Your Style!  I'm so glad you're here.  This week, Barbara from 21 Rosemary Lane is your host.

Hi everyone and welcome back to another fabulous Share Your Style link party! I am Barbara from the blog 21 Rosemary Lane, and I can't tell you how thrilled I am to be your party host this week. Thank you all so much for joining us again.

Remember when you link up to SYS you are seen on eight blogs!

Wow, we are almost to the beautiful month of May and that means kicking it off with Cinco de Mayo celebrations! So this week I shared with you 3 of my absolute favorite Mexican inspired entrees we enjoy here at 21 Rosemary Lane.

Hope you give one or all a try!

OK, I know you probably hear all the time how difficult it is for a party host to select features, well you know what, it really is a tough job! There was an amazing amount of creativity linked up to last week's party. So without further ado, here are just a few of the links that really caught my eye.

First up is this gorgeous spring bedroom makeover by Shirley of Housepitality Designs. Shirley mixes beautiful soft blues with peach for a lighter brighter warm weather appeal. (And check out that ah-mazing tray ceiling with the stunning chandy!)

Next is an updated dining room from the super adorable blog Sweet 'n Sour Gumballs. I love the elegant simplicity of Amy's room with its lovely farm table and painted Craig's List hutch!

Melissa from Dancing Dog Cabin shared her recipe for peanut butter doggie treats. These must be yummy, just look at the face of longing on her pretty little pooch Dolly. (too cute)

After 2 attempts at trying to find the perfect chair for her mother, or Nana as known to her grandchildren, Mary Beth's Place finally found this pretty French chair and beautifully refurbished it. The third time really is a charm!

And finally since this weekend is the Kentucky Derby, why not whip up a batch of non-alcoholic Mint Juleps for the entire gang. This incredibly refreshing looking drink is from Carrie over at the blog Curly Craft Mom.

Our Little Bitty Vegetable Garden

Hello everyone!

Our little garden is proof that you don't have to have a lot of property to grow vegetables.  This year, we planted only a few things.  Tomatoes, squash and peppers.  We quit growing cucumbers because we got so many and I was the only one that ate them.  We also cut back on our peppers because so many of them just ended up in the freezer and some are STILL there a year later!

My husband went to the nursery to gather the materials we would need.

While he was prepping the soil, he soaked the plants in water.

Here is a lovely "before" picture of our garden after a long winter.

Then, the work began tilling up the soil.

Looking a little better.

He added all of the other "ingredients" to make the soil rich and made mounds in which to plant the vegetables so they'll have room to spread their roots.  (I always tease him about those rows.)

Now, let the planting begin!

 All done.

He added a few cages to some of the plants that will grow tall or trail.

And THAT is our little bitty vegetable garden!  We're a small family of 4 so this will be just a nice addition to our evening meals.

Do you plant a vegetable garden at your house?

Thanks for stopping by!

Crisp White Slipcover

Hello everyone!

I've had a wing chair in my sitting room for years.  I found it for sale by a neighbor at a garage sale.  It was a cream color and always had a few water mark stains on it that wouldn't come off, so I finally decided to buy a slipcover for it.  I don't know why I waited so long to do it now!  (Gosh, I've been saying that a lot lately.)  Anyway, I thought I'd share it with you in case you've been looking for a good brand slipcover for your furniture too.  I'm very happy with it!

Now, since it wasn't custom made, it doesn't fit perfectly.  But, luckily it fits good enough to satisfy me.  If you are a perfectionist about not having wrinkles, and seams lining up just right etc.  Then this kind of slipcover would not be your best choice.

But, I must say this one fits the chair better than others I've tried.  I got it from HERE.  I loved that it was free shipping too!

It's a nice crisp white which I like better than the cream color that was on the chair.

This slipcover was designed for a wing chair so it has seams that help it fit that style better.

I may eventually buy more from this company.  I'm very happy with the quality and color.

People are always asking me where I find my slipcovers.  I have found them from many different sources.  I'm a a true slipcover lover too.  ALL of my furniture is covered in them!  I can't imagine not having them since they are washable and so perfect for the cottage look that I crave.  If I ever buy new furniture, it will either have a slipcover already on it or I will get one for it.  I'm addicted!  Now, if only I could learn to make my own!   I'm jealous of you gals that know how to make them.

Hope you all have a nice weekend ahead.  We have been busy planting our vegetable garden for the summer so I will share that with you next week.

Thanks for stopping by!

Share Your Style Party #10

Hello everyone!

Have you been having a good week so far?  I'm happy that the rain has finally let up and the sun has decided to visit us again.  This Spring has been so wet and stormy here in GA!  I'm excited to see what you have to share with us this week.  This week, Debra from Common Ground is your host.

Hi Everyone, it's Debra from Common Ground
I'm your host this week and I'm so happy you're here
to join in for the fun and inspiration!

Remember, when you link up on one blog,

I've been busy unpacking boxes from storage this last few weeks. After moving last November, we're still working to get all the boxes over to our house and unloaded. I've been finding a few Small Treasures I'd almost forgotten, and we were able to get our outdoor furniture and goodies in place. I'll be putting together my Potting Bench soon, hopefully. I'd love you to come by Common Ground for a visit!

There are so many great inspirational projects and fresh fun decor going on this time of year. Your Spring posts are just brimming with great ideas and beautiful spaces. Here are a few I loved this last week.

Final Reveal of Family Room Changes

Hello everyone!

Well, it's been weeks that I've been tweaking the family room.  It took a while to decide which direction I wanted to take it in.  I played around with red and white, blue and white, red and blue etc.  But, everything I did  just fell short of what I was looking for.  Until now.  I wanted something cozy and comfortable.  I wanted something soft and imperfect.  Yet, I wanted something stylish too.  So, I decided to bring in soft denim blues and some indigo to my sofa and chairs.  I moved some furniture around to give me the cozy seating group I was after that also made more sense for how we use the room.  I changed the lighting around as well.  And this is what I came up with.

I have plans to either get an L-shaped sofa one day or a new sofa and loveseat, or sofa and two matching chairs.  But, until then this will have to to do.  So, just try to overlook that my two chairs sitting side by side don't match perfectly.

This arrangement works so well for this room.  I don't know why I never tried it before in the almost 20 years that we've lived here!

I'm loving the pops of soft denim and some darker indigo in the mix.

I brought back my Swedish style arm chair to soften this corner of the room too.

I'm glad to finally have this room done and not feel like something is "off" when I walk into it anymore.  I guess I'm my own worst critic.

Be sure to come back here Wednesday night for the weekly Share Your Style link party too!

Thanks for stopping by.

Antique Shopping (Part 2)

Hello everyone!

It has been raining here almost all week and I am SO ready for it to stop.  The ground is saturated so we can't work on our vegetable garden like we had planned to.  So, what's a girl to do with all of this rain?  Go shopping!  Here are a few more fun finds that I saw at an antique store and thought I would share them with you.

I forgot what these metal buckets are called but I know they are a country french accent for the fireplace.

You know how much I love wooden crates.  This one was a nice one.

I loved this primitive style painted cabinet with screens in the doors and porcelain knobs.

These would be adorable in a childs room or even a nursery!

Have you ever heard of Farmhouse Paint?  There was a booth with a lot of it for sale.

They had a large color selection and looked like a nice paint to work with.  May have to give this one a try in the future!

Found some amazing grain sack pillows too.

I liked these old bottles.  They look good grouped together.

I've been noticing a trend of baskets with a white painted stripe on them lately.  I have plenty of baskets that I could do this with myself!  No need to buy one already done.  They were trying to sell this for a huge amount of money too.

Well, did you see anything you like?  This is a great antique store with so much to see.  I could spend hours in it and spend TOO much money if I had it to spend!

Hope you all have a great weekend.

Thanks for stopping by.

Share Your Style Party #9

Hello everyone!

Looks like I was able to use a different computer in the house that would allow me to upload tonight's party afterall.  Yay!  So sorry for all of the confusion if you came over to my site to link up earlier.

Are you ready to "share your style" this week?  Sherry from No Minimalist Here is your host this week.

Welcome to the  Share Your Style  party!

Hi everyone!  I am Sherry and I write the blog  No Minimalist Here.   It's so exciting to be hosting this week and I truly appreciate you visiting.

My husband and I bought a house nine months ago and I have been busy trying to make it our home.  Our most recent project was removing a wall and adding new wood floors.  Decorating the new dining room is what we are working on now.   I hope you will drop by and see our progress so far.

Features from last weeks party.

It's always hard to choose just a few features each week because ya'll are such a talented bunch.  I hope you enjoy my selections from last week.

Rita at May Days shared her beautiful blue and white Spring tablescape.  Did you notice the creative use of fence pickets?

Liz and her husband built this wonderful pergola and landscaped their yard beautifully.  Visit Home To Cottage to see more.

I love Beignets and whenever we visit New Orleans CafĂ© de Monde is my first stop for these little pastries.  The Painted Apron shared this fabulous recipe at last week's party.

I admit I have potting shed envy every time I visit Mary at Home Is Where The Boat Is.   How beautiful is this Spring vignette?

If you were featured this week please grab our Feature Button.

I look forward to seeing what you share this week and I hope you will visit me at my blog No Minimalist Here , Instagram  and  Pinterest.
